The Case Competition conducted by Carolina Economics Club resumed in 2021-22 after a break due to the pandemic. Students were assigned a Case to discuss US Trade Policy on Solar Panel imports from China. Twelve teams were formed each of which had four or five students. There were two rounds in the competition. In the first round, teams submitted a deck of slides on the Case. Four teams of those teams were invited to the final round where they presented their cases to a panel of four judges. The judges were faculty members Dr. Rita Balaban and Dr. Geetha Vaidyanathan, and UNC-ECON Alumni Mr. Michael Miller (Wolfspeed) and Mr. Vasu Vijayakumar (KPMG). The students in the winning team were Evan Berkowitch, Jack Goldsmith, Ryan Jensen, and John Garnett Nelson.
