IMG_0235.The sky was Carolina blue for the 2016 Economics Department Graduation reception — and the tables were laden with Carolina-blue punch, Tar Heel cookies and pimento-cheese sandwiches.  After the graduation ceremony in Kenan Stadium, the graduates, their families and the faculty trooped up to the Global Education Center for a chance to recognize each and every Economics major.  Each student was called by name and received their certificate from the Economics Department.

For many, it was the end of four eventful years at Carolina — but what an ending!  Jacob Buchanan and Dalton Askew, pictured here, celebrated the occasion with their families. Jacob majored in Economics and minored in Mathematical Decision Sciences.  He was also the Chairman and Chief Investment Officer last year for Tar Heel Alpha, the innovative student-run investment fund based in the Economics Department.  Dalton majored in Economics, minored in Coaching Education and belonged to the business fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi.

Both Jacob and Dalton are from the Charlotte area; they met when they were matched as roommates here at Carolina.  They’re now back in Charlotte in the final rounds of job interviews in investment and financial services.  Good luck!
