The Economics Graduate Student Association (EGSA) is an academic group to which all graduate students in the Economics Department at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill belong.  The goals and objectives of EGSA are as follows:

1. To encourage communication between the graduate students and the faculty in the department.

The EGSA encourages graduate students and faculty to share their ideas, concerns, and opinions with one another. By organizing and collecting relevant information, the EGSA allows the graduate students to better express and support their views in an open framework. Also by establishing a formal link, the EGSA enables the department to better discuss potential changes or problems with graduate students.

2. To provide a format for better communication among the graduate students in the department. The EGSA helps keep students informed about the department, university, surrounding community, and the profession.  The EGSA also hosts events designed to promote a collegial atmosphere and to enable graduate students to meet and visit with one another.

The EGSA does not discriminate in admitting members on the basis of age, disability, ethnicity, nationality, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or veteran status.
