Professor Phan currently researches on International Economics, with special focus on public debt, poverty, inequality and the environment. In the big picture, his mission is to use research to help inspire and create policies for a better world, where poverty and environmental destruction could only be found in museums.

He received a PhD in Economics from Northwestern University in 2012, with a dissertation on sovereign debt
